JR.TECH is a program of the Cape Cod Technology Council, Inc. JR.TECH’S mission is to reach out to students in grades 5 -12 and engage them in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), showing that these areas of study are both fun and something everyone can be part of. The goal is to both develop a life-long interest in science, technology, engineering and math and to build STEM skills, including broad-based critical thinking, problem solving, collaborative research, and analytical inquiry. These skills are ones our businesses, workforce, and citizens need in order to prosper in our 21st century world. Having a technically literate generation is not just the right thing to do, it is essential for the future of our region and our future.
To accomplish this goal, JR.TECH offers fun, hands-on, workshops in a variety of settings. Students enjoy the dynamic, interactive and creative format of the workshops and through this process develop both skills and appreciation for science, technology, engineering and math.
A second way we accomplish this goal is to provide students the opportunity to meet professionals and educators working in the STEM fields of study. In our workshops, students interact with professionals and in many workshops role model "a day in the life of...” a STEM professional.
JR TECH's mission is not only to strengthen STEM skills in students and to provide career role modeling opportunities, it is to enable students to see the everyday relevance of STEM skills in many professions!
Our aim is to expose kids to new experiences, to spark an interest in STEM fields, and to broaden awareness of STEM career paths.
