Challenge hones students' science and math skills..
A "Yo-Yo Spin Wars and Gyro Challenge" for students in grades 5-7 will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School, 225 Route 6A, Orleans. In this Jr. TECH program, students will learn the difference between a "sleeping" and "non-sleeping" yo-yo, make a "button" flywheel and calculate their yo-yo's spin time. They will also test their gyroscope skill level using the Duncan Gyroscope XT, view the gyro trick CD and make their own gyroscope model on a string. Workshop cost is $49. Enrollment is limited to 10 and may be made at www.juniortech.org or by calling 774-994-2097. Jr. TECH is a program of the Cape Cod Technology Council.
Our aim is to expose kids to new experiences, to spark an interest in STEM fields, and to broaden awareness of STEM career paths.
